Judge Denies Requests Pertaining to Huntington Beach Air Show Settlement

A California judge has denied two emergency requests pertaining to Huntington Beach’s near $5-million settlement with the operator of its annual air-show over the cancellation of the 2021 event’s final day on account of an oil spill. One request sought to prevent the city from paying out the settlement, while the second attempted to make public a full and detailed accounting of the settlement.

Pilot Killed in Mille Lacs Lake Icon A5 Accident Identified

NTSB Seeking Videos of 30 June Minnesota Mishap

The pilot and sole occupant of a single-engine ICON A5 that went down in east-central Minnesota’s Mille Lacs Lake on Friday, 30 June 2023 has been identified as 47-year-old Ryan Comer of Blane, Minnesota; so states the Federal Aviation Administration. Mille Lacs County Sheriff Kyle Burton reported personnel of his department recovered Mr. Comer’s body from approximately 26-feet of water some eight hours after the 13:50 CDT mishap.

U.K. Initiative Seeks to Broaden Student Interest in Aviation

London Bridging the Gap Between Academia and Industry

Following their respective completions of a seven-month program developed for purpose of exposing public school students to careers in the aviation and aerospace sectors, upwards of forty pupils hailing from state schools across Hertfordshire and North London took triumphantly to the skies at Watford Hertfordshire, England’s London Elstree Aerodrome (ICAO: EGTR). Organized by the Air League, the U.K.’s leading aviation and aerospace charity, 42 students participated in a series of Air Experience Days at the London Elstree Aerodrome—taking part in team-building and communication workshops prior to experiencing half-day flying lessons in powered aircraft.
