Airplane Was Being Repositioned For The Summer, Weather A Concern
The NTSB has released a preliminary report from an accident involving a Grumman G-21A Goose that went down in the mountains of Montana. The pilot of the aircraft was fatally injured in the accident.
Six flight instructors completed the Master Instructors course to receive the prestigious designation in the month of June. The title has been earned by fewer than 700 of the 91,000 CFIs currently active in the country. The last 17 National Flight Instructors of the Year were Master CFIs. In addition, the FAA has approved the accreditation as an alternate means for CFIs to renew their flight instructor certificates.
Will Establish An IFR Proficiency Center At AirVenture
The IMC Club and the EAA have announced the inauguration of a new skill-building center at AirVenture 2014. The IFR Proficiency Center will be a hub for instrument pilots and will feature Tech Talks, IMC Club chapter meetings, and eight Redbird flight simulators on which pilots can gauge their instrument proficiency by flying various approach scenarios.
The DOT's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) says that the FAA is unlikely to meet its 2015 deadline for integrating UAVs into the National Airspace System (NAS).
