Aviation artist Sam Lyons' latest work ... an acrylic canvas
featuring a classic Cub on floats in a tropical setting ... will be
on display at AirVenture in a couple of weeks. But the title of the
as-yet-unnamed work will be determined by a "Name the Painting"
contest to be held at the show.
Chief Restorer, Jack Tiffany Introduces the
World’s Only Flying Pitcairn PA-18
EAA AirVenture 2009 was a momentous turnaround for Jack Tiffany,
leading restorer of the Pitcairn PA-18. Last year, the team
suffered an unfortunate setback when, with only a week left until
EAA AirVenture 2008, the aircraft suffered significant rotor blade
damage during flight testing and its maiden flight to Oshkosh had
to be canceled.
Able Flight Wing Recipient, Jessica Cox, Speaks to EAA AirVenture
2009 Attendees
On July 28th, 2009, Able Flight held a special ceremony to
recognize the tremendous achievements of three remarkable new
pilots, Mal Zakery, Jeremy Maddox, and Jessica Cox. Each surmounted
significant physical disabilities to attain their pilot’s
license in recent years. Special guest Miles O’Brien said,
“Aviation is hope. This shows that hope does indeed
triumph.” There has not been, however, an accomplishment
in aviation history quite like Jessica Cox’s triumph.
