product that should significantly ease the chores of keeping one's
charts up to date (a task that has come to have all the charm of
watching paint dry...). A companion product for their impressive
new Voyager Flight-Planner, SmartPlates is an on-demand chart
resource that offers SIDs, STARs, airport runway and taxiway
diagrams, minimums, and all manner of conventional approaches
including ILS, LOC, GPS, RNAV, VOR, DME, NDB, LDA, SFD and MLS.

Like migratory birds, Cirrus owners flocked back to the birth
place of their airplanes this past weekend. Cirrus Design in Duluth
hosted this Second Annual Migration sponsored by the Cirrus Owner
and Pilots Association (COPA). Even though the visibility was
one-eighth of a mile early Sunday morning, the weather was

Just Says "No" To Building School Under MIA Approach
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush recently vetoed a bill that would have
permitted construction of a school underneath the approach path to
Miami International Airport. In a letter of thanks to the governor,
AOPA President Phil Boyer wrote, "Your veto message underscores the
common-sense rationale for compatible land-use planning around
airports: 'The state's overarching policy presumes the paramount
importance of protecting our children and teachers by forbidding
construction of schools under flight paths.'"
Conklin & De Decker Founder Retires After 62 Years In
Conklin & de Decker founder Alan H Conklin, announced his
retirement from the company, effective June 30th, 2004. Alan will
become "President Emeritus" and will work on special projects and
serve in an advisory role.

tailwheel transition and CFI certification program to be formatted
