Congress Orders FAA To Develop Rules In Three Years
The FAA reauthorization act includes a mandate to the FAA
to develop regulations for the testing and licensing of commercial
unmanned aerial vehicles within three years. That provision puts a
sudden end to vagueness in the discussion of how UAVs will avoid
becoming a hazard to manned aircraft. It is also guaranteed to
intensify protests from privacy advocates who fear abuse of
surveillance drones by police.

Judge Says He Did Not Disclose A Reprimand Letter Dealing
With Sexual Affair With A Subordinate
A Washington court has fined a Raytheon executive because he did
not reveal he had been given a letter of reprimand for engaging in
an affair with a subordinate. The letter was deemed evidence in a
lawsuit over a consulting contract with the FAA.
