OriginOil announced Wednesday that the company has agreed to
partner with Research Institute of Tsukuba Bio-Tech (RITB),
recently approved for funding to develop algae to jet fuel
applications by Japan Science & Technology Agency (JST).
Airbag-Like-System Protects Helicopter In Drop Test
A system designed by NASA to cushion spacecraft during hard
landings was recently tested on a helicopter airframe to see if it
would protect the occupants in the event of a crash. For the
test, a "deployable energy absorber", a honeycomb cushion made of
kevlar, was attached to an MD-500 fuselage.

As part of the Obama administration’s new Open Government
initiative, the FAA is expanding public access to its
frequently-updated information on airport delays through an Airport
Status and Delays Web service registered on Data.gov.
Over 300 jobs will be cut when Cessna closes shop in Columbus,
GA, sometime in the next six to twenty four months. The
closure was announced to the local workers on Tuesday.
