Two Fatally Injured In Long Island Accident

Globe Swift Went Down In The Water And Sank In Moriches Inlet

Two people aboard a Globe Swift were fatally injured Saturday when the airplane went down in the water of Moriches Inlet off Long Island, NY. The airplane reportedly sank and became lodged against the pilings of a jetty in about 20 feet of water. It took rescuers about six hours to retrieve the bodies from the aircraft.

Officials for the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport Air Expo have gone to the Wood County commission seeking additional funding to cover debts incurred by the event. Committee co-chair Donna Rusche has asked the commissioners to allocate an additional $22,000.

Three lawsuits filed as a result of a February 17, 2010 accident in Palo Alto, CA, have been settled, court documents reveal. The accident resulted in the fatal injury of two employees of Tesla Motors. Terms of the settlements have not been released.

Engine Shut Down While Airplane Was Taxiing After Landing, Restart Difficult

The pilots aboard a Piper PA-32 Saratoga which went down just after takeoff from Lake Tahoe Airport in August had a discussion with airport personnel about the airport's density altitude and the air-fuel mixture after landing, according to the NTSB's preliminary report.
