Imagine launching into poor visibility or night conditions with
anything less than optimal flight instruments. It's vital
before taking off into reduced visibility of any sort (including
nighttime) to verify the proper operation of your flight
instruments.
Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum -- The goal of RVSM is
to reduce the vertical separation above flight level (FL) 290 from
the old 2000-ft minimum to 1000-ft minimum.
