House Bill HR 476 will eliminate G.I. training benefits for those veterans wishing to build a career as a professional pilot. As a result, a letter-writing campaign has been mounted by an ad-hoc group which hopes to defeat HR 476. You never know what you’ll see at a Fly-in, so when ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, saw an RV-10 with a turbine engine, he just couldn’t pass it by. To find out what was going on, Jim met with Pete Pierpont, the CEO of Turbine Solution Group. Pierpont said the engine is a TP 100 that produces 250 horsepower, and has $25 million invested in its development. This engine has not been certified and that’s why it resides in an experimental airplane. Pierpont said they intend to ride it hard as they work their way towards certification.
