In the wake of last year's fatal accident involving a Collings Foundation B-17G in Connecticut, other organizations offering flight experiences in WWII aircraft are being forced to suspend those operations due to rising insurance costs and the specter of burdensome restrictions. Aero Linx: CalDART - The California DART Network The idea of organizing a DART was first discussed by the South County Airport Pilot Association (SCAPA) Board of Directors in 2008. After SCAPA struggled for a year in how to approach this issue, Rod Pharis took over the project and began an extensive research and writing project. He researched available aviation disaster preparedness information from CalPilots, the FAA, FEMA, and other sources. ANN's Daily Aero-Term (02.02.20): Ground Communication Outlet (GCO)

Ground Communication Outlet (GCO) An unstaffed, remotely controlled, ground/ground communications facility. Pilots at uncontrolled airports may contact ATC and FSS via VHF to a telephone connection to obtain an instrument clearance or close a VFR or IFR flight plan. They may also get an updated weather briefing prior to takeoff. Pilots will use four “key clicks” on the VHF radio to contact the appropriate ATC facility or six “key clicks” to contact the FSS. The GCO system is intended to be used only on the ground.
