Aero Linx: The Albuquerque Gas Ballooning Association The Albuquerque Gas Ballooning Association is an association of gas balloon pilots, crew members and other interested persons that support gas ballooning world wide.  The association supports the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta America's Challenge Gas Balloon Race that is held yearly in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Coupe Aèronautique Gordon Bennett has been hosted twice in recent years by AIBF and the history of this event is of interest to gas ballooning enthusiasts. We therefore as part of the history of gas ballooning include information here on The Coupe Aèronautique Gordon Bennett gas balloon Race. <

ANN's Daily Aero-Term (02.04.18): Ground Controlled Approach

Ground Controlled Approach A radar approach system operated from the ground by air traffic control personnel transmitting instructions to the pilot by radio. The approach may be conducted with surveillance radar (ASR) only or with both surveillance and precision approach radar (PAR). Usage of the term “GCA” by pilots is discouraged except when referring to a GCA facility. Pilots should specifically request a “PAR” approach when a precision radar approach is desired or request an “ASR” or “surveillance” approach when a nonprecision radar approach is desired.
