STTR to Further Advance ASR Technology For UAM Efforts

Aviation Safety Resources has been awarded a United States Air Force contract. Via the AFWERX program, ASR  has been awarded a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I contract entitled “Advanced Extreme Rapid Deployment Emergency Whole Airframe Recovery Parachute System for Urban Air Mobility” which was submitted as part of FX20D-TCSO1. Under the contract, ASR will team with the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR), part of Wichita State University located in Wichita, KS to support testing and research in support of the development of a whole aircraft recovery parachute system specifically for A/UAM.

After numerous delays, some induced by the COVID pandemic, and dealing with the move to New Mexico, VG still has not launched a spacecraft from their new New Mexico facility... though, Saturday, they tried. Aircraft Conflict Predicted conflict, within EDST of two aircraft, or between aircraft and airspace. A Red alert is used for conflicts when the predicted minimum separation is 5 nautical miles or less. A Yellow alert is used when the predicted minimum separation is between 5 and approximately 12 nautical miles. A Blue alert is used for conflicts between an aircraft and predefined airspace.
