The plight of Santa Monica Airport continues with another absurdity. The city of Santa Monica, California has posted a job announcement for an FBO manager to take over fuel sales and other associated functions at the airport. The city is working to evict the two private FBOs located on the airport as part of its overall plan to close the airport as soon as it may legally do so. Here’s an update from Virgin Galactic about the progress with the SpaceShipTwo flight testing program. The second SpaceShipTwo, named ‘VSS Unity’, flew for the first time in September, but it was not released from the mothership. Writing on the Virgin Galactic blog, the company says that the results from September’s test were encouraging enough that the team agreed that no further captive carry flights are needed.
