Praising her staff for weathering "an extremely challenging
year," Federal Aviation Administration Chief Marion Blakey
announced this week most FAA employees will receive a 3.1
percent salary increase -- as well as an average 1 percent locality
raise.
Special VFR (SVFR) applies only in tower-controlled or Class D
airspace, will be denied if any IFR aircraft is in the airspace,
and is not available at several high-traffic airports.

Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System is a
digital data link system transmitted via VHF radio which allows
airline flight operations departments to communicate with the
various aircraft in their fleet. Useful for ordering lunch,
perhaps?

Herron, in response to an eBay-user's inquiry into the jetpack
Herron is advertising on the popular auction site. Herron is not
actually selling his jetpack, but rather the right to name it --
for the low, low price of $500,000 (if you buy it now.) According
to Herron's website, the pack was expected to fly before the New
Year.
