Gulfstream Marks Five-Year Anniversary Of G650 Type Certification

More Than 250 Aircraft In Service

Gulfstream Aerospace recently marked the five-year anniversary of the Gulfstream G650’s type certification by the FAA with a look back at the aircraft’s esteemed history.

Unmanned Flight Through Civil Airspace Covers 1,075 Nautical Miles

On August 30th, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems flew its first test flight out of its new Flight Test and Training Center (FTTC) facility in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The GA-ASI Block 5 Predator B/MQ-9 Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) flew a round-trip of approximately 1,075 nautical miles. This was the longest transit flown by a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) in Class A civilian airspace under a Certificate of Waiver or Authorization (COA) granted by the FAA. The COA authorized the Block 5 MQ-9 to fly in airspace managed by air traffic controllers without the requirement of utilizing a “chase” airplane.

Victor Secures $20 Million Led By BP Ventures

BP Ventures, BP's investment arm, has entered into a strategic investment agreement with B2C jet charter company Victor, committing to invest $10 million as lead investor to Victor's Series B fundraising round. The round, raising a total of $20 million, has been further bolstered through family offices and existing shareholders.

Wipaire Receives Chinese Approval For Wipline 13000 Floats

Expands Gear Advisory Approvals

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has granted approval for Supplemental Type Certificate SA2CH for the installation of Wipline 13000 floats on the Viking Series 400 Twin Otter. Approval for Wipaire’s Amphibian Gear Advisory System (Supplemental Type Certificate SA39CH) was also expanded to the Cessna 172R and 172S. The system is also available in China on the Cessna 208 Caravan, 208B Grand Caravan, Quest Kodiak, Air Tractor AT-802/802A, and the Viking Series 400 Twin Otter.
