Canadian Accident Pilot Tested Positive For Marijuana

Pilot, One Passenger Fatally Injured In October, 2011 Accident

The pilot of a Cessna Caravan which went down in Canada's Northwest Territories (NWT) was impaired by marijuana use, according to a report from the Canadian Transportation Safety Board. The pilot and one passenger were fatally injured, and two other passengers survived with serious injuries.

NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen issued a statement late Wednesday in response to the decision by Senate leadership to decline consideration of an amendment introduced by Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS), which would have preserved air traffic control towers and other facilities targeted for closure under mandatory federal budget curtailment, or "sequestration."
