Erickson Delivers 8th S-64 Air Crane to Korean Forestry Service

Despite Logistics Issues, Helitanker Manufacturer Comes Through in a Pinch

Erickson's Unique S-64 Air Crane helicopter has been delivered to one of the firm's classic customers, the Korean Forest Service. The relationship between the two dates back more than 20 years, when the South Korean government entity procured its first S-64 Air Crane, the first foreign  government to put its face in the aircraft. From then on, they've gone on to procure 7 more, pressing the helicopter into service as an all-weather firefighter.

That is the assessment of Rick Slater, Director of True Blue Power at Mid Continent Instrument Company, who told Aero-News CEO and Editor in Chief Jim Campbell at NBAA-BACE that the company began in 2013 to educate people about the technology, and its benefits for aviation. Slater said the company worked to educate consumers about lithium batteries, and the importance of proper use and maintenance.

NTSB Prelim: Cirrus Design Corp SF50

The Pitch Up And Reduction Of Engine Power Were Not Commanded By The Pilot

On November 25, 2022, about 0800 eastern standard time, a Cirrus SF50 airplane, N15VJ, was substantially damage when it impacted a retention pond after a deployment of the whole airplane parachute system near Mount Comfort, Indiana. The pilot was not injured. The flight was conducted under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a positioning flight. The pilot reported that the preflight and pretakeoff checks of the airplane were normal and he proceeded to takeoff from runway 25 at the Indianapolis Regional Airport (MQJ), Greenfield, Indiana.
