Bombardier has announced a firm order for 10 Challenger 350 aircraft in a transaction valued at $267 million U.S., based on 2020 list prices. “This order highlights the tremendous value customers place on the unmatched capabilities of our aircraft,” said Éric Martel, President and Chief Executive Officer, Bombardier Inc. “Bombardier’s newly refreshed portfolio and growing service network position the company well to respond to growing interest in private aviation and the enhanced safety it provides.”

Flexjet to Require Flight Crew COVID-19 Testing Before Each Duty Tour

Flexjet to Utilize Saliva Based PCR Test

Flexjet has claimed to be the 'first and only' large-scale operator in their industry to routinely test all of its more than 830 flight crew members for COVID-19 before each tour of duty. Developed by a Rutgers University laboratory, called RUCDR Infinite Biologics, and administered by Vault Health, this at-home test is a PCR based test that utilizes a saliva sample. PCR tests are considered the “gold standard” of COVID-19 testing methodologies, because of their sensitivity and ability to directly detect small amounts of the virus’s genetic material.

NTSB Prelim: Cessna 551

During The Landing, The Pilot Cycled The Anti-Skid Brake System About 2-3 Times

On December 2, 2020, about 0843 central standard time, a Cessna 551, N48DK, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Lufkin, Texas. The airline transport pilot sustained minor injuries and 2 passengers were not injured. The airplane was being operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 corporate flight. The pilot stated that after an uneventful Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) flight from Austin, Texas, he entered the RNAV 16 approach to runway 16 at the Angelina County Airport (LFK), Lufkin, Texas. His intention was a full stop landing.

AD: Bombardier, Inc., Airplanes

AD 2020-25-06 Was Prompted By A Report That Corrosion Was Found On The Shock Strut Cylinders

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Bombardier, Inc., Model BD-100-1A10 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report that corrosion was found on the shock strut cylinders during unscheduled maintenance of the nose landing gear (NLG). This AD requires a modification of the NLG shock strut cylinder. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective January 27, 2021.
