NTSB Prelim: Air Tractor Inc AT-802A

Damage To Power Lines And A Utility Pole... With A Debris Path To The Wreckage

On January 19, 2021, about 1435 central standard time, an Air Tractor AT-802A agricultural airplane, N523BB, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Newellton, Louisiana. The pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 137 as an aerial application flight. The wreckage was found by a motorist and reported to law enforcement. There are no known witnesses to the accident. The wreckage was located along a road. Information later obtained by investigators revealed that the pilot was hired to apply applicant to an adjacent field.
