Boeing: Airlines Validate Perfomance Improvement Package On 737s

Enhancements Appear To Provide Expected Reduction In Fuel Burn

Boeing says that airlines flying its Next-Generation 737 are validating the benefits of the Performance Improvement Package (PIP), one year after the first airplane PIP airplane was delivered. PIP combines aerodynamic and engine performance improvements to reduce fuel burn by up to 2 percent and is part of the continuous innovation on the airplane.

People are used to things being bigger in Texas, and it was perhaps with that in mind that Lufthansa became the first airline to introduce the Airbus A380 to the Lone Star State. To commemorate the occasion, Mayor Annise Parker has declared August 1, 2012, Lufthansa Airlines Day in Houston. Inaugural flight LH440 arrived at George Bush Intercontinental Airport at about 1350 CDT.
