The airlines that soak you with all the a la carte fees like to
point to how those fees are being well-received, benefit customers
who don't bring checked bags, and have provided important new
revenue streams which have kept the carriers out of bankruptcy. So,
you might wonder how Southwest Airlines can buck the trend and stay
afloat.
The nation's largest airlines reported only three flights in
June with tarmac delays of more than three hours compared to 268
flights in June 2009 and with no increase in the rate of canceled
flights, according to the Air Travel Consumer Report released
Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
Solutia Inc. has disclosed that Boeing Aircraft has granted full
approval for use of Skydrol PE-5 hydraulic fluid in all its prior
and current aircraft. "Skydrol PE-5 is a state of the art fluid
that not only meets the needs of Boeing's current airplanes but
also meets Boeing's demanding requirements for its next generation
aircraft," said Solutia's Richard Altice, Vice President of
Commercial Services, Technical Specialties.
The pilots of FedEx Express, represented by the Air Line Pilots
Association, Int’l. (ALPA), began negotiations with FedEx
Express management Tuesday for their third collectively bargained
contract. The FedEx pilots are prepared for a focused bargaining on
a limited number of significant issues.
