Looks like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner might need to go on a
dream-diet. Engineers say the aircraft is 2.5 percent overweight...
much of it because of extra lightning protection required in the
composite airframe.
How safe are lithium batteries when they're carried as cargo
aboard aircraft? It's a valid question, given how pervasive they
are. Lithium batteries are used in all sorts of laptops... and cell
phones as well.
So... what's up with the much heralded "Registered Traveler"
program, which was designed to give frequent fliers a way to skirt
the tedium of airport security? Well... from the looks of it,
nothing much.
