NASA Awards Contract To Develop Cockpit Display To Show Sonic Boom Over Land

Rockwell Collins To Produce Conceptual Cockpit Display With NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center

NASA has awarded a two-year contract to Rockwell Collins to develop a conceptual cockpit display that will provide a visual representation of sonic boom over the Earth’s surface to mitigate impact on populated areas. NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center will lead the research, working with Rockwell Collins’ Advanced Technology Center.

Boeing and integrated leisure travel company TUI Group have finalized an order for one 787-9 Dreamliner with an option for one further 787-9. The order is valued at $257 million at current list prices. TUI Group also announced that it will substitute two unfilled orders for 787-8s for two 787-9s.

Flight Delays Increase For U.K. Airline Passengers

Data Shows Most Delays Occur During Family Vacation Season

Figures released by the Civil Aviation Authority reveal that on time performance for all scheduled flights operating from the UK's ten main airports in 2014 dipped to 79%. This is one percentage point down from 2013 figures. The overall on time percentage of charter flights dipped four percentage points to a low of 73% with an average delay of 18 minutes, up from 17 minutes in 2013.
