Putin Lays Out Framework for Foreign Aircraft "Theft by Conversion" 

Russian president Vladimir Putin signed a new law into being that gives domestic airlines the ability to register rights to foreign aircraft leased by Russian companies, and issuing domestic airworthiness certificates to them. Like many carriers around the world, Russian airlines often rely on leased aircraft to defray some of the cost and hassle of ownership and maintenance. Lessors outside the country face difficulties in recovering their property in Russia, more than 500 planes worth more than $10 billion in total.

Breeze Airways Completes Training Site

Embraer 190 FFS, Cabin Training Systems Installed Ahead of Company Growth Spurt

Breeze Airways displayed their recent addition to their Salt Lake City, Utah training academy this week, showing off the first of their full motion simulators. The Embraer 190 simulator is flanked by classrooms, briefing rooms, and offices, with space for an upcoming addition in the form of an Airbus A220 sim expected later this summer. Breeze says the training facility will have nearly everything needed to build their operations from the ground up, supporting both pilots and cabin crew.

New Caribbean Airline Orders 20 737 Max Aircraft to Kickstart Operations

The Dominican Republic's newest carrier has chosen a side in the eternal Airbus/Boeing rivalry, opting for the 737 Max as their steed of choice in the Caribbean market. The company selected the higher-capacity 737-8-200, which will pack nearly 200 passengers into a plane the size as a regular, 189-seat 737-800. While less than optimum for larger customers hungry for plenty of legroom, the 737 should make it easier to turn a profit while in the early growth stage for Arajet.
