In a rare win for common courtesy, it appears likely the Federal
Communications Commission will end its investigation into whether
cell phones can be used safely on airplanes while inflight.
Airbus and Russia's state-controlled Unified Aircraft Corp. have
announced the launch of a "risk-sharing partnership" on the A350XWB
-- just one of a series of recent partnerships between Russia and
EADS.
Tom Brantley, national president of the Professional Airways
Systems Specialists, AFL-CIO (PASS), testified Thursday before the
House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Subcommittee on
Aviation, to discuss contract negotiations between the FAA and its
unions, including the issues of staffing of technician and
inspector workforces, the FAA's application of its designee
programs, and the FAA's reauthorization proposal.
