Forecast International's "The Market for Regional Transport
Aircraft" projects that a total of 3,754 regional aircraft will be
produced during the next 10 years (2009-2018). This forecast
includes both regional jets, which account for about two-thirds of
the forecast, and regional turboprops.
Deep Discounts Not Enough To Put Passengers On Airplanes
The Air Transport Association of America (ATA) said Monday that
it expects a 4 percent year-over-year decrease in the number of
passengers traveling on U.S. airlines during the 2009 Thanksgiving
holiday season, despite deep discounting over the past several
months.
A Proposed DOT Delay Prompts Call For Action By Congress
In response to reports that the U.S. DOT plans to push back the
expected date for a final rule on airline passenger "protections"
until February of 2010, a flyers rights groups has renewed its call
for Congressional action. DOT had planned to publish its new rule
before the end of this year.
Sums Plus update And Relocation Services Worth About $52
Million
CAE has signed contracts valued at approximately $52 million to
design and manufacture four full-flight simulators (FFSs) and
related training devices, and to provide simulator updates and
relocations. The FFS contracts bring the total FFS sales that CAE
announced in fiscal year 2010 to 10.
A Delta Airlines flight scheduled to leave Kennedy Airport for
London on Sunday night had to be evacuated when someone spotted a
mouse in the cabin of the Boeing 767. Passengers were
switched to another airplane after the rodent sighting, delaying
their departure by about two and a half hours.
