Agency Highlights Greener Skies Over Seattle Program
The FAA said Thursday it is awarding its largest Voluntary
Airport Low Emission (VALE) grant for an $18.3 million project at
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) to improve air
quality and to reduce the use of conventional fuels at the
airport.
The European Union, and at least one UK airline, are questioning
security measures that have been put in place for flights bound for
the United States.
The FAA has issued STC approval (STC ST02084SE) to Southeast
Aerospace (SEA) for modifications to the Airbus A318/A319/A320/A321
series aircraft. The STC allows the installation of a second
Rockwell Collins WRT-2100 (MultiScan Radar) Receiver-Transmitter in
the aircraft listed above.
President Obama Says Packages Contained "Explosive
Materials"
Packages found abroad addressed to U.S. addresses contained
"explosive materials" according to President Obama. Discovery of
the packages caused some cargo planes to be grounded Friday, and
led to a day of heightened tensions.
US Airways Airbus Instructed To Turn Into Path Of Beech 99
The NTSB has released its preliminary report in a near-collision
incident which occurred on September 16. A US Airways Airbus A320
was separated by only about 50-100 feet of vertical separation from
a Beech 99 cargo plane at about 1,500 feet agl.
ALPA: Management Proposal Would Make Pilots Lowest Paid in the
Industry
Pilots for Continental Connection carrier CommutAir conducted an
informational picket at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in
Ohio on Tuesday to protest proposed pay cuts that they
say would make them the lowest-paid pilots for their aircraft
type in the airline industry.
