'Miracle On The Hudson' Plane Now On Display At the Carolinas

Three years ago Sunday, US Airways Flight 1549 departed
LaGuardia airport for a routine flight to Charlotte, NC, but got
only as far as the Hudson River. The flight, piloted by Captain
Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger famously ditched in the river after a
bird strike caused both engines to flame out, but in what has now
become known as "The Miracle On The Hudson," not a single passenger
or crewmenber lost their lives in the accident.
Landowner Wins Settlement After Claiming Undervaluation
Eminent Domain laws allow government agencies to condemn private
land for projects which benefit the public, but as one Indiana
county has learned the hard way, taking more than is needed, or
fudging on the fair value of that land, can get expensive. An
attorney for a woman whose land was taken for a runway expansion
says he'll file for a judgment to collect $865,000 in compensation
won by the landowner in court.
Cost-Cutting, Restructuring At The Core Of The Plan
The Board of Directors of Air France-KLM has examined a proposed
transformation plan for the group to be implemented over three
years (2012-2014) which will focus on three priorities set out on
November 9th last year: restoring competitiveness through
cost-cutting, restructuring the short- and medium-haul operations
and rapidly reducing debt.
As Delta Airlines, US Airways and a private equity firm called
TPG Group appear to be mulling bids to take over struggling
American Airlines, business experts are weighing in on who might
prevail, and wondering if anti-trust regulators will go along.
