Investigators Say Airliner's Engines Detached From Wings
How do you lift a mostly-intact narrowbody airliner out of the
Hudson River? That's a question salvage operators may have gone
their entire lives without pondering, until Thursday's downing of
US Airways Flight 1549.
On Thursday, the US Department of Transportation's Bureau of
Transportation Statistics reported passenger airline traffic
continued to drop through 2008.. so it's not surprising to hear
airline employment numbers are falling, too.
Bombardier Aerospace announced this week Pinnacle Airlines
subsidiary Colgan Air, Inc. recently signed a firm order to acquire
15 Q400 NextGen turboprop airliners. The transaction involves the
conversion to firm orders of 10 conditional orders and the exercise
of five options placed by Pinnacle in 2007. Colgan Air's operations
are based in Manassas, Virginia.
