In the wake of a tragic balloon accident that occurred near Maxwell, Texas, which took 16 lives, the Balloon Federation of America has created what they’re calling the 2016 BFA/FAA Action Plan. This extensive plan addresses new numerous aspects of balloon operation. In early September, Sir Wilfrid Laurier School in Calgary will become the first Canadian high school to fly experiments aboard a stratospheric balloon as part of the Canadian Space Agency's (CSA's) Stratos Program.
