Last week ANN’s Jim Campbell was fortunate to be at the CAP National Conference when it was announced that General Mark A. Welsh announced the official recognition of the Civil Air Patrol as the fourth member of the Air Force Total Force team. The official recognition reflects CAP’s key and continuing contributions to the Air Force mission working with the Active, Guard and Reserve components to provide the Air Force with a full spectrum of distinct and complementary capabilities. ULA, USAF Work To Improve Launch Processing, Enable Schedule Efficiencies

Integrates Off-Site Vertical Integration For Several Atlas V Structural Elements

Launch Alliance (ULA) and the U.S. Air Force have implemented Off-site Vertical Integration (OVI) of several structural elements and the Centaur upper stage for the Atlas V launch vehicle. OVI significantly reduces the number of lifting operations performed at the Vertical Integration Facility (VIF) at Cape Canaveral, taking them off the critical path and allowing for reduced time between launches.

Company Will Receive Up To $101.9 Million To Support Facilities At The Johnson Space Center

NASA's Johnson Space Center has awarded to Raytheon Company a contract extension with a potential value of $101.9 million. Raytheon will continue to provide operations, maintenance and engineering services for up to four years to NASA's Neutral Buoyancy Lab (NBL) and Space Vehicle Mockup Facility (SVMF), facilities that are critical to safe human spaceflight.
