Florida Power Grid to See Autonomous Drone Inspection

Percepto Selected by Florida Light & Power for Drone Monitor Contract

Percepto has announced the imminent deployment of a fleet of autonomous drones on a mission to monitor Florida Power & Light’s substations and power distribution grids across the state. The company notes that it's the first time the technology has been used in such a way in the state, leveraging drone-in-a-box (DIB) technology with a minimal personnel and infrastructural requirement. The deal represents the largest commercial autonomous drone project in the world, according to Percepto, who says it's also apparently the first time autonomous drones have been used in urban terrain for infrastructure inspection.

EAA Aviation Museum Exhibit Honors Corsair Pilot

Medal of Honor Winner's Aircraft Recreated in Korean War Exhibit

Thomas Hudner, Korean War-era Medal of Honor recipient, was honored at the EAA Aviation Center with a recreation of the Corsair used in his heroics. The museum refinished the gull-winged Chance-Vought F4U-U to appear just as it did in 1950 during Hudner's mission to rescue Jesse Brown on the day that earned him his commendation. The plane had been a part of the EAA collection for some time, last restored in 1994 to appear as the steed of WWII ace Kenneth Walsh.

Crew-4 Mission Launches for Arrival at ISS

4th Commercial Mission Takes Off, Science in Tow

The NASA Crew-4 astronaut crew completed their launch, successfully making their way to orbit to rendezvous with the ISS. The commercial crew rotation mission marks the 4th time a SpaceX Dragon and Falcon 9 combination have brought NASA personnel into orbit, this time carrying a complement of 4, including the lone ESA mission specialist.
