Airborne-Unmanned 02.20.18: USMC InstantEye, Raleigh Reconsiders, Battle Drones

InstantEye Robotics has received a substantial order from PMA-263, the Navy and Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program Office, for an additional 800 InstantEye Mk-2 GEN3-A0 sUAS systems. The systems delivered under this contract will support deployed Marine infantry squads. The InstantEye family of products includes the Mk-2 GEN4, which is the largest system, capable of carrying payloads up to 4 pounds; the mid-sized, highly agile Mk-2 GEN3, which can carry payloads up to 1.5 pounds; and the palm-sized, highly integrated Mk-2 GEN5, with advanced vehicle-borne computer processing power that will allow the system to adapt to future capability needs. Nanosatellite Launch Company And Space Mission Provider Announce Launch Agreement

Vector, a nanosatellite launch company comprised of new-space and enterprise software industry veterans from SpaceX, Virgin Galactic, McDonnell Douglas, Boeing, Sea Launch and VMware and Open Cosmos, a space mission provider, today announced an agreement to reserve five orbital launches between 2019 and 2023 on the Vector-R launch vehicle. The announcement comes in advance of Vector's first orbital launch in July.

Shows Drill Developed By Leonardo Company Will Be Capable Of Completing Its Mission On Mars

Space qualification tests of the drill manufactured by Leonardo at its Nerviano (Milan) plant for the ExoMars 2020 mission have now been completed. The announcement came at the opening of the exhibition “Mars - Close encounters with the Red Planet,” which will be on exhibit through June 3 at the National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.

Program Included Several 'Firsts' For The Engine For Ariane 6

The re-ignitable Vinci, engine, which will power the upper stage of the Ariane 6 launcher, has now successfully completed its last two subsystems qualification campaigns (M6 and M7) with 140 engine tests conducted. The tests in campaigns M6 and M7, vital for qualification of the engine subsystems, were carried out on the PF52 bench at the ArianeGroup site in Vernon, France, and on the German Aerospace Center DLR’s P4.1 bench in Lampoldshausen, Germany.
