Captain Cernan was one of fourteen astronauts selected by NASA in October 1963. He logged 566 hours and 15 minutes in space-of which more than 73 hours were spent on the surface of the moon. It’s reported that Cernan’s flight to the moon was the most scientifically rewarding of all the lunar flights. VLT To Search For Planets In Alpha Centauri System

ESO Signs Agreement With Breakthrough Initiatives

The European Southern Observatory (ESO) has signed an agreement with the Breakthrough Initiatives to adapt the Very Large Telescope instrumentation in Chile to conduct a search for planets in the nearby star system Alpha Centauri. Such planets could be the targets for an eventual launch of miniature space probes by the Breakthrough Starshot initiative.
