NBAA Applauds FAA Approval of Unleaded Avgas

G100UL Availability and Distribution Uncertain

NBAA President Ed Bolen has welcomed the FAA’s issuance of a supplemental type certificate (STC) allowing use of a new unleaded fuel, G100UL, in piston-engine aircraft. The development of G100UL entailed 12-years of research and testing. Type certification validates the resources and effort invested over those years and denotes the FAA’s determination that engines and aircraft operating on G100UL will remain compliant with the airworthiness safety standard requirements of Part 23 and Part 33 for airplanes and engines respectively.

Southeast Aerospace's Bell 407 Operator Station Receives STC

Criminals Beware

The Oxford English Dictionary defines utility as “the state of being useful, profitable, or beneficial.” That Southeast Aerospace (SEA) was aware of such when they set out to design their Special Mission Operator Station for the Bell 407 is apparent. In both design and manufacture, SEA’s operator station actualizes an ideal solution for housing equipment critical to Airborne Law Enforcement (ALE). The FAA’s confidence in the product is evinced by the agency’s issuance of Supplemental Type Certification (STC) SR04546AT, which encompasses both the station and its installation.

Canada, New Zealand, and Australia have no age limits for pilots. Japan has increased its mandatory pilot retirement age to 68. The United States and most European countries have maintained a pilot age limit of 60-years—though some E.U. member states have filed for exemption requests. In 1963, ICAO raised the mandatory retirement age for commercial pilots from 45-years—as laid down in 1919, when people died in droves of maladies and injuries now considered minor—to 60-years. Aero-News: Quote of the Day (09.03.22)

“We applaud the approval of G100UL for all piston-engine aircraft. It establishes a framework for other fuel producers to follow as the industry aims for a more sustainable future. NBAA members use a wide range of aircraft, including piston-engine aircraft, to meet their business needs, and this decision by the FAA offers them a safe, lead-free fuel option.” Source: After much of the industry mysteriously gave the GAMI folks and their G100UL program little more than lip service, the various Aero-Associations, starting with NBAA's Ed Bolen, are lining up to laud them after their receipt of the blanket document that they have been working YEARS to get... allowing them to start serving GA with a solid solution for unleaded avgas.&
