SilverLight Brings MOSAIC to Engineering Consulting

Florida-Based Manufacturer Expands Offerings to Cover FAA Final Rule

SilverLight Aviation, best known for its AR-1 gyroplane and Recon light sport aircraft, is broadening its scope in the engineering world, announcing on September 30 that it will now offer consulting services focused on compliance with the FAA’s upcoming MOSAIC final rule.

“SilverLight Aviation has helped many light aircraft manufacturers reach compliance and pass audits with the FAA team,” said Abid Farooqui, President and Founder of SilverLight Aviation. “Building upon that experience, we’re ready to consult and guide aircraft manufacturers to achieve their MOSAIC goals, take advantage of this upcoming rule change by the FAA, and achieve their business goals in the light aircraft market.”

MOSAIC, short for Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification, is set to expand both the Light-Sport Aircraft category and Sport Pilot privileges by bringing factory-built gyroplanes, larger and faster two- and four-seat airplanes, and even light twins into the group.

SilverLight, which has a well-established history of helping manufacturers with FAA audits, ASTM compliance, and certification, sees this as a logical extension of its consulting business. The company says it will assist clients with audits, documentation, and certification processes under the new rule, aiming to make the transition smoother for aircraft producers.

“MOSAIC brings exciting changes to pilots and manufacturers. From factory-built gyroplanes to faster 2 and 4-seat airplanes to twin-engine airplanes, everyone stands to benefit from reduced cost of compliance and greater capability,” Farooqui added.

SilverLight has been on the market since 2012. It has expanded beyond the gyroplane kit world, stretching into fixed wings with its Recon. This airplane, based on the Apollo Fox design, was re-engineered for US customers with a longer fuselage, larger engine options, and greater baggage capacity.

Beyond its in-house products, SilverLight has partnered with AeroJones Aviation to bring the AJ Sport to the US. The aircraft is derived from Flight Design’s CTLS line, featuring a new wing, updated cowling, and redesigned fuel system. Under the cowling is a Rotax 912iS, bringing cruises of 112 knots while burning about 4 gallons per hour.
