Transport Canada Certifies Diamond DA50 RG

Canadian Customers Can Now Receive Immediate Deliveries

Diamond Aircraft announced that its flagship DA50 RG single-engine piston aircraft with retractable gear has received type certification from Transport Canada. This signifies another notable achievement in the company’s history of innovation as it expands the aircraft’s global regulatory approval and enables immediate deliveries to customers in Canada.

The DA50 RG previously secured certification from EASA, the European Union Aviation Safety  Agency in 2020 and from the FAA in 2023.

The premier DA50 combines retractable landing gear and double-slotted flaps that the company says improve lift and low-speed performance and handling. Its composite airframe and advanced aerodynamics give the aircraft a top speed of about 181 kts and a range of 754 nm with reserves, and is standard-equipped with the Garmin G1000 NXi avionics suite.

The DA50 also has a spacious five-seat cabin that provides comfort and luxury, along with a rear baggage compartment with plenty of room for belongings. The aircraft is powered by a 300 hp Continental CD-300 engine that burns Jet-A rather than avgas. Diamond said this selection aligns with its sustainability goals by reducing both fuel consumption and emissions.

Kevin Sheng, CEO at Diamond Aircraft Industries Canada said, “We are very proud to have received Transport Canada type certification for our single engine flagship, the DA50 RG.”

Liqun (Frank) Zhang, Diamond Aircraft Group CEO noted the strong positive reception by pilots when the aircraft was first certified by the FAA in 2023: “Our revolutionary DA50 RG is getting overwhelming high praise from everyone that flies it.”

As the DA50 RG becomes available in Canada, its cutting-edge technology, sustainable operation, and regulatory endorsement make it a strong contender in the general aviation landscape, providing owners and pilots a quality upscale piston single.
