Wisk Works Towards Air Taxi Rollout in Los Angeles

Boeing Subsidiary Partners With the City of Fullerton for Infrastructure Development

Boeing subsidiary and air taxi developer Wisk Aero recently announced a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Fullerton, California, that works towards the integration of autonomous air mobility in one of the cities that needs it most: Los Angeles. The effort will center at Fullerton Municipal Airport (FUL) in Orange County.

Wisk has been developing autonomous eVTOL technology for over a decade and has logged more than 1,750 test flights. Its aircraft are intended to be fully autonomous, carrying passengers without an onboard pilot… which requires an extra layer of caution.

Under the agreement, Wisk will provide technical advice as Fullerton develops its long-term strategy for integrating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) into the city’s transportation system. That includes less flashy prototypes and more of the unglamorous but essential details of infrastructure, regulation, and planning for vertiports, power grid demands, and even routes. The city, in turn, will explore policy pathways ranging from permitting requirements to community noise guidelines.

Operational planning is also on the table. Wisk and Fullerton will evaluate potential training and maintenance facilities at the airport, brainstorm on the commercial front, and review local land-use codes and recommend updates needed to legally accommodate autonomous passenger flights.

“The partnership between Wisk and the City of Fullerton is a powerful example of the forward-thinking collaborations that will keep Orange County at the forefront of technology and transportation,” said Jeff Ball, President and CEO of the Orange County Business Council. “This milestone marks the beginning of a sustainable air mobility ecosystem—one that will create high-quality jobs, strengthen connections between communities, and further position Orange County as a leader in the future of mobility."

Wisk Aero also recently signed an MOU with Signature Aviation, a private aviation terminal provider, to proactively develop the necessary infrastructure for autonomous eVTOL operations. Signature Aviation’s network of more than 200 private aviation terminals worldwide gives Wisk a ready-made map of possible AAM hubs, including key launch markets in Houston, Los Angeles, and Miami.
