Goodyear Blimp Celebrates 100 Years In The Air

New Cities, Events, And Win A Flight Contest!

Since 1925 the Goodyear Blimp has been a part of many cultural moments and sporting and other historic events. This year, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Blimp with an Aerial Tour of over 100 stops in North America and Europe, adding new cities and new events, and a chance for three lucky U.S. fans to get a chance to fly in the Blimp.

The first Goodyear Blimp, named Pilgrim, was launched in 1925 and the Blimps have served as a public relations vehicle for brand awareness for the company while delighting fans in communities nationwide.

The Blimp has appeared at landmark events including the Olympics, Monday Night Football, Super Bowls, and other events. It has been featured in songs, movies, television shows and has generated millions of dollars for charities and communities. It has even aided the U.S. Military during World War II.

In this anniversary year, the celebration kicked off at the 111th annual Rose Bowl game, an event that marked the 70th anniversary of aerial coverage, which the Goodyear Blimp spearheaded over the stadium in 1955.

Goodyear will recognize June 3, 2025, which was the inaugural flight of the original Pilgrim, as the official date of the 100th anniversary.

Mark Stewart, President and CEO of Goodyear said, "The Goodyear Blimp is an enduring symbol of both nostalgia and innovation for fans around the world. With its century-long history and unique ability to instill a sense of wonder in those who experience it – whether from on the ground or in the air, the blimp gives Goodyear a way to connect with the public in a way no other tire company can match.”
