We've had to sit on this for a while until the LoPresti folks were ready to release the details, but we can finally start writing about an intriguing new innovation from the folks at LoPresti Engineering. LoPresti Engineering's latest product is an airless aviation tire with a solid carbon fiber band embedded in the circumference of the tire. RJ Siegel, LoPresti's CEO, notes that, "It's just about impossible to puncture this tire and even if you could, it still wouldn't go flat. It's a completely airless system with load and suspension characteristics matched to the aircraft's needs."

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) emerged as the winner Thursday in an election to determine union representation for more than 14,100 Fleet/Ramp workers at the carrier formed by the merger of United Airlines, Continental Airlines and Continental Micronesia. The election was conducted by the National Mediation Board (NMB).

NTSB Prelim On SC Crash Released

Unlicensed Pilot, Unregistered LSA Seen Doing Loops

The NTSB has issued a preliminary report on the crash of an unregistered, experimental flying boat July 20 into water near Dewees Island in South Carolina. According to a report in the Mt. Pleasant Patch, passenger Carly Donahue worked with the pilot, Lucas Smith, to conduct charters using a yacht Smith bought and restored.
