The Pilatus PC-12 which went down in Polk County, FL, Thursday was being flown by a Kansas resident who was returning with his family from the Bahamas. The plane went down just before noon Thursday in the Tiger Creek preserve near Lake Wales, FL.
Airplane Will Not Need Major Additional Work Before Delivery
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner that recently rolled off the factory floor looks much like all the other Dreamliners previously completed ... but the 66th 787 to be completed this week in Everett, WA, is different. It is the first of the composite airliners that will not need extensive additional work before it can be moved into "Preflight Operations" status.
The AFA Continental Master Executive Council has reached a tentative agreement with United Continental Holdings, Inc. covering 10,000 subsidiary Continental flight attendants. The agreement extends their industry leading contract for 28 months while providing the flight attendants additional economic and job security, benefits, flexibility, and growth.
The head of the International Air Transport Association says the airline industry needs help from government to bring down the cost of biofuels, which could help in reducing pollution. Tony Tyler, chief executive of the IATA says that airlines have flown 1,500 commercial flights powered by plant-derived fuel, but at great cost and with limited supply.
Only Three Aircraft Remain After Two More Were Sold
New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez has cut the state's fleet of airplanes from eight to three, with two of the aircraft being sold recently. Martinez (R) made the planes part of her 2010 election campaign. She had promised to sell what she called a "luxury jet" purchased by Governor Bill Richardson (D) during his administration.
Remains Of Three Airmen, One Naval Aviator Returned To U.S. For Burial
The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office has released the names of three aviators missing in action from the Vietnam war whose remains have been returned to the U.S. for military burials.
