The Best of LSA To Be Showcased In Sebring
Another event that looks
to supplant activities once associated with the ailing (and
reportedly failing) Sun 'n Fun Fly-In is starting to look like it
might have the right stuff to do so. Preparation continues for the
U.S. Sport Aviation Expo to be held at the Sebring Regional Airport
(KSEF) from October 28-31, 2004. This event is centered around the
class of aircraft defined by the FAA as Light Sport Aircraft. The
field layout is nearly complete, sponsors are being solicited, the
office is open, volunteers are being recruited and the website is
available for those desiring information about exhibiting, camping,
admission fees and the many other details of an event of this
size.
According to Robert Wood, Chairman of the Expo Advisory Board,
EAA will be presenting educational forums throughout the Expo,
providing up to date information concerning the Sport Pilot rule,
medical aspects of Sport Pilot operations, certification of current
and new LSA qualified aircraft, and such topics as insurance and
business opportunities in this exciting new field.
The four-day event will feature flying demonstrations not only
by fixed wing aircraft but will also include trikes, auto-gyros,
gliders, powered parachutes and balloons-whatever exhibitors want
to display to potential customers. Exhibits will vary from aircraft
and insurance to electronics and will include pilot and aircraft
supplies.
A mailing to potential international exhibitors is scheduled for
early next month. The Expo layout includes nearly seventy aircraft
display spaces in addition to forty spaces for inside exhibits.
Most aircraft display sites will be on concrete though there are a
limited number of grass spaces for those desiring to erect their
own tents. Wood says that the Expo staff anticipates that all
exhibit sites will be taken as soon as all segments of the LSA
community become aware of the event.
