Hull And Liability Insurance Options Announced For Eclipse Jets

Programs Offered By Chartis Aerospace Insurance Services And Willis Global Aviation

An aircraft hull and liability insurance program for the Eclipse 500 VLJ was announced Wednesday by Eclipse Aerospace. Chartis Aerospace Insurance Services, which represents the leading underwriter of Eclipse aircraft, and aviation insurance broker Willis Global Aviation, are offering hull and liability insurance available to qualifying aircraft operators who have participated in the recently announced factory initial and recurrent training programs offered by EAI in conjunction with its training partner, SimCom.

“The Chartis insurers have provided hull and liability insurance for the Eclipse fleet since the first aircraft was put into service,” said Greg Sterling, Vice President and Division Manager of Chartis Aerospace Insurance Services, Inc.’s Light Aviation Division. “The benefits of simulator training for general aviation pilots are well proven. The fact that EAI operators will have access to Level D simulators, advanced training courseware and factory-trained instructors helps give us the confidence we need to offer qualifying EAI owners competitive insurance solutions.”

“Since 2004, Willis has continued its efforts to develop appropriate hull and liability premiums based on the high level of training and excellent safety record of the Eclipse,” said Garrett Hanrahan, Chief Executive Officer of Willis Global Aviation in North America. Willis Global Aviation will offer competitive insurance solutions to operators of Eclipse aircraft who complete EAI factory-approved training.

EAI’s comprehensive factory training program includes:

  • A Pilot Experience Questionnaire – A survey that evaluates pilot experience and personalizes the flight training program;
  • Jet Basics Course – A self-paced course, delivered via CD, that familiarizes the customer with the basics of jet aircraft operation;
  • Flight Skills Assessment – An evaluation that determines whether candidates are ready for type-rating training or require supplementary training;
  • Emergency Situation Training – A two-day program consisting of hypoxia training and upset recovery training;
  • Type-Rating Training – A knowledge- and skill-based training and instruction;
  • Mentoring Program – An operational instruction program that provides newly type-rated Eclipse pilots with the ability to operate in the National Airspace System with an increased level of safety;
  • Recurrent Training – A training program that occurs six months after earning the type rating, or for more experienced pilots, one year after earning the type rating; and,
  • Differences Training – Instruction available for those who fly modified aircraft that have been updated or installed with new system configurations.

“Eclipse Aerospace is extremely proud of its industry-leading training programs. An uncompromising, high quality, factory training program is key to insuring the highest level of safety for Eclipse pilots, operators and passengers,” said Mason Holland, Chairman and President of Eclipse Aerospace.
