Ballistic Recovery Systems, Inc. has
accepted the keys to its new Corporate Headquarters building from
the City of South St. Paul.
“The combined efforts of City staff, architect,
construction firm, and BRS employees have produced a truly unique
structure that will meet our needs for years to come”, said
BRS CEO, Larry Williams as he joined South St. Paul Mayor Beth
Baumann and other City, State of Minnesota, and Minnesota
Congressional delegation staffers in the August 28th noontime
Ribbon Cutting ceremony.
“We had outgrown our previous facility which served us
well for over 28 years so definitely needed to find a structure (or
build one in this case) that could accommodate the aggressive plans
we have for new products and markets” he added.
The new BRS facility has 15,000 square feet of production area
in addition to 6,000 sq feet of office and engineering design
spaces. It is located just down the road from the previous facility
and still on the grounds of the Fleming Field (South St. Paul)
airport. BRS worked closely with all parties to design the type of
building and layout they needed and entered into a long-term
leasing agreement with the City of South St. Paul, who is the
landlord and owner of record, of the facility.
Since 1981, BRS has delivered more than 29,000 parachute systems
to aircraft owners worldwide, including over 3,500 systems on
FAA-certificated aircraft such as the Cirrus Design SR20 and SR22
manufactured in Duluth, Minnesota. To date, BRS parachute recovery
systems have been credited with saving the lives of 214 pilots and
passengers.
