MBIA Donates 50 Hours of NetJets Time to Corporate Angel Network

50 Hours of Falcon 2000 Fractional Time to Help Cancer Patients

Corporate Angel Network (CAN), the national non-profit organization that provides free air transportation for cancer patients by using empty seats on corporate and fractional aircraft, announced that MBIA Inc. a provider of specialized financial services has donated 50 hours fractional jet flight time in their NetJet Falcon 2000 aircraft for use by CAN to transport cancer patients to treatment.

“CAN patients face daunting challenges in their battle against cancer; the least of these should be transportation to treatment,” said C. Edward Chaplin, MBIA chief financial officer. “MBIA employees are proud of their company’s support of CAN, and we encourage other companies to participate in this wonderful program.”

“MBIA’s generous donation will clearly increase the number of cancer patients we transport to treatment centers,” said Randall Greene, CAN’s chairman. “We often use donated fractional time for flights to remote or seldom traveled locations where patients can’t typically be reached with regular corporate flights,” continued Greene. “Whenever possible we schedule multiple patients on each individual MBIA donated flight and these flights often make a critical and lasting difference in the lives of our patients.”

Corporate Angel Network (CAN) arranges free flights to treatment for cancer patients using the empty seats on corporate flights. Since its founding 25 years ago, CAN has grown to include 530 participating corporations, five paid staff, and a team of 50 part-time volunteers who work with patients, physicians, corporate flight departments, and leading treatment centers to coordinate medical travel needs of cancer patients with the scheduled flight activity of participating corporations. To date, CAN has arranged nearly 25,000 flights and currently provides about 200 patient flights a month. CAN has received numerous awards in recognition of its service to cancer patients, including The Volunteer Action Award, the highest volunteer award from the President of the United States.
