Fighters Intercept Canadian-Bound 767

But Nobody Will Say Why

We're still not sure why, but Canadian CF-18s Tuesday intercepted and followed a domestic flight until it landed in Vancouver. Canadian officials aren't saying much about the incident.

Air Canada Flight 109 was en route from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Vancouver, British Columbia when it was intercepted. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police met the plane at the gate and conducted an investigation -- but then released all passengers and the aircraft, according to published reports.

The CBC quote anonymous government sources who said there had been a bomb threat made against Flight 109, but that it turned out to be a hoax.
