New York based Lelands.com announced Friday that it would agree
to remove airplane pieces from auction. The pieces in question were
from the DC-7 that crashed and killed baseball player Robert
Clemente on December 31, 1972.
The aircraft crashed after takeoff from San Juan on a relief
mission to Nicaragua. Clemente's family started legal action
against the auction company when they found that a piece of the
plane and a propeller would be in the auction.
Lelands.com will return the metal piece to the collector, and
the propeller will be donated to a sports museum in Puerto
