ANNouncement: Now Accepting Applications For Oshkosh 2012 Stringers!!!

LAST CHANCE! An Amazing Experience Awaits The Chosen Few...

One of the more unique and enjoyable aspects of our coverage is that we've been smart enough to do away with the usual institutional arrogance we see at so many publications... where the Editors think that only they know what you want... whether they really do or not (or worse cover what THEY like... regardless of YOUR interests). We instituted the Aero-Stringer program over a decade ago to allow promising writers and photographers, with a true passion for aviation, to come aboard and help us cover the Oshkosh experience through THEIR EYES and keep us in touch with the true rank and file of the aviation world...

No one does anything like this... and we're proud to do so every year... not only because it makes sense, but because of the amazing new friends we make every year amongst those who join us for the annual insanity that is the ANN Experience At Oshkosh.

It is the busiest, craziest, most intense and mind-numbingly INSANE week of our year... and yet we look forward to it every time we orbit the sun once again -- eagerly (OK, with an occasional wince).

Get your data in NOW if you want to be considered for what promises to be one of our most intriguing and UNIQUE Oshkosh adventures yet (yup... BIG changes and ideas in store for you, AGAIN, this year). You've seen, for several years, what a great job our stringers, news-spies, and helpers have done at a number of high-profile aviation events. GREAT writers, photographers and videographers have helped us gather information and wave the flag for us at these shows!

Now, we're looking ahead to some big events coming up over the next few months -- including the biggest and most exciting of them all. We'll definitely need a few more stringers for Oshkosh, as well as for other upcoming aero-events.

A few of our former stringers have come to work, full and part-time, for Aero-News... others have created great opportunities for themselves as a result of working with ANN. But... it's time, once again, to break in a few "newbies." If you have always wanted to see these events "from the inside," are a keen observer of all things aeronautical and you can write expertly as well as take photos, let us know.

And if you have any previous radio or podcasting skills, all the better. We're especially interested in people with experience in shooting and/or producing video and audio segments. You might be able to join ANN and get an inside view of some of the most exciting events in the aviation world.

If interested, please send samples of your stories and shots, along with a little background, and tell us what your spring/summer availability will be. You'll be working with the most energetic team in aero-journalism, a group that goes where the stories are and brings 'em back for readers all over planet Earth.

If you have video skills, send along a clip of your work and a list of the software and equipment that you're comfortable working with.

We work in shifts to cover the most ground, have time to write it all up, and to digest the work in an efficient flow.

There'll be plenty of fun to go around, as we cover hundreds of vendors and thousands of aircraft, pilots, and builders. What's your specialty -- ultralights, warbirds, racers, tube and rag? Great! You don't have a specialty (just love the whole shooting match like we do, eh?)? Great!

We have plenty of needs, and there's plenty of aircraft and stories to go around. We will be examining a lot of your applications, and the process is workload-dependent, so -- sooner is better!

We also need a high-energy "gopher" for Oshkosh -- someone who can be counted on to run the numerous errands, arrange some meetings, and keep us up to date on whatever we may be missing! Let us know if any of these positions interest you by sending your specs to the email link below.
