CAPT Announces New Campus At Cecil Field

Offers Alternative To Flagler Facility

The Commercial Airline Pilot Training (CAPT) Program announced Wednesday the opening of a new campus at Cecil Field (VQQ) in Jacksonville, FL.

Opened in 1941, the airport was originally the site of the former Naval Air Station Cecil Field, which was closed in 1999. With four runways, Cecil covers a 22,939 acre area and is home to several aerospace businesses.

CAPT will occupy space at Cecil with a capacity to hold 60-80 students. The program at Cecil Field will be identical to the 12-14 month ab initio program at CAPT's primary location at Flagler (XFL) in Palm Coast, FL. The training devices will include AATDs and FTDs, while Cirrus SR20 aircraft and Avidyne Entegra-equipped Piper Seminoles will comprise the training fleet.

"Our success with the CAPT training program has created a demand for us to expand beyond our flagship location in Flagler," said Chris Kokai, Executive Director of CAPT, LLC. "We are excited to have the opportunity to grow our organization and to help provide training for the pilot shortages being felt around the world."

CAPT program is currently staffing for the Cecil campus, which is due to open in the 3rd quarter of 2008.
