WDC Flight Diverted After Failing To Follow Procedures

There was some anxiety in the sky over Washington (DC), Sunday night. An America West Airlines jet headed to Reagan National Airport was diverted to Dulles Airport after the FAA says flight crew members failed to follow "proper procedures."

The aircraft was heading into the Washington ADIZ when it was diverted. Passengers say the pilot apologized for not relaying the proper information to air traffic controllers at National, in violation of post 9-11 security measures.

After landing at Dulles, federal officials questioned the captain and the plane was allowed to continue to National. The flight was delayed 90 minutes.
